When I saw this blog prompt for today’s #blogtober16 post, I thought it would be an easy one to do. After all, TV is what I do best. Then I actually got thinking about it and it would probably take me a week to go through everything!
I love TV. Love it. It’s sad, isn’t it? I don’t really have many other hobbies, although I like photography when I can be arsed to get my camera out, and I do love reading. But the thing I do
a lot too much of every day is watch telly. I like dramas, but not soaps. ‘Box sets’ have been the best invention in recent times and I have subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV so I have a pretty good choice at my remote finger.
So, favourites? Where to start?! I think, if pushed, I’d have to say, somewhat predictably, that Game of Thrones is right up there. I got into it a bit late, but soon caught up and now I love it. I got into The Walking Dead this year and managed to catch up with it all half way through the last season, so I’m waiting with baited breath for the new season to start this month! I also loved Dexter which I binged on, along with Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black and Making a Murderer.
I really enjoy detective dramas such as Thorne, DCI Banks and Luther, costume dramas – Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge, and US dramas such as The Good Wife, Scandal and 24. I am also a huge fan of ‘Scandi Drama’, particularly The Bridge, The Killing and The Legacy.
Then I love shows such as The Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celebrtiy…. But I hate most ‘reality’ TV and haven’t got time for shows like Made in Chelsea and TOWIE (is it surprising with all the other things I watch?!)
I’ve always loved TV, even as a child, when we watched things together as a family every night. Classic comedies such as Only Fools and Horses and Open All Hours, as well as quiz shows and nature programmes were family favourites. I still love a good quiz today. And I loved comedies such as Black Adder and Red Dwarf as a teenager.
So, yeah, naming my favourites should be easy, but is actually hard, as there are so many! Probably would have been easier to list what I don’t like…
